IlluminArt's Touring Company impressed audiences at the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation's (SIEDC) Health & Wellness Expo that took place on October 11, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Presented by Staten Island Borough President James S. Oddo, Staten Island University Hospital/Northwell Health and Richmond University Medical Center, an affiliate of the Mount Sinai Health Network, the daylong conference included informative keynote addresses, purposeful seminars, medical screening tests and fitness demonstrations.
Our talented actors performed two scenes from our original play Prescription for Addiction. The first scene was about a student who feels tremendous peer pressure to do drugs. In the second scene, a student comes to understand the consequences of getting off track and losing sight of her goals. IlluminArt was thrilled to work with our partners at Tackling Youth Substance Abuse and Dr. Ginny Mantello, Health and Wellness Director for the Staten Island Borough President's office. The aim of the SIEDC expo is to equip Staten Island residents with knowledge about their health and all the health services available to them throughout the borough.
